Giving Back to Those Who Gave So Much Landers Collision of Norman

“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill

No truer words were ever spoken – giving truly does make life sweeter. It gives meaning and purpose to the otherwise mundane task known as work. Today, we’d like to honor those that have given to us – from the men & women who serve our country, the companies who donated for the cause, and to Progressive Insurance for allowing us the opportunity to participate in the Keys to Progress® Program.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude for the Keys to Progress Program

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Keys to Progress® Program, Progressive Insurance began the program six years ago as a way of honoring veterans. The company, seeing a need in the community for transportation support to military men & women who are facing tough times, partnered with several auto body repair facilities to fulfill a need. From difficult personal and family health needs to excessive rent burdens, unemployment and homelessness – many of our veterans are facing tough circumstances in life. The Keys to Progress program is about giving back to people who’ve given so much for our country.

Every November, Progressive hosts a one-day vehicle giveaway event for veterans at various Progressive offices and authorized vehicle repair facility locations across the United States. Counting this year, Progressive will have donated more than 600 vehicles to veterans and veteran organizations since 2013. Landers Collision is so honored to have been able to participate, as an authorized vehicle repair facility, in this wonderful program for the last 4 years.

Chevrolet Silverado for the Keys to Progress Program

What an honor to make a difference in a person’s life – a vehicle, after all, is a game changer. It can be the difference between getting good medical care or going without; the ability to get back and forth to a job or to be unable to have steady work. Realizing the importance one vehicle can make in a life, we stepped up this year and decided to do two vehicles, thereby being able to aid two families of veterans rather than just one.

We have completed the vehicles, a Chevrolet Silverado & a Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude, just in time for Progressive Insurance to present them. How fitting that two veterans will receive these vehicles in the month of November – a month President Trump just proclaimed National Veterans and Military Families Month. While we did most of the labor in-house for these vehicles, we certainly did not make this happen alone. Progressive donated the vehicles to us, in need of great amounts of repair. From there we partnered with Landers Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep & Ram, as well as Landers Chevrolet for all the OEM parts that we used. Additionally, our vendor partners LKQ Corporation, Keystone Automotive and B&B Auto Parts donated necessary parts to the cause. XL Parts supplied the mechanical needs to both vehicles, while O’Reilly’s Auto Parts supplied the oil changes. Our sister company, Steve Landers Collision & Glass in Little Rock, Arkansas pitched in on costs, too. It has truly been a team effort to make these beautiful vehicles a reality for this program.

This Thursday, November 8th, is the Progressive Keys to Progress Luncheon where the vehicles will be presented. We are so excited to see the faces of the recipients. We are so honored to be a part of this project. It has warmed our hearts to put our skills and talents in this endeavor to honor those who gave up so much to ensure our Freedoms remain intact.
